Sindarin — Die fließende Elbensprache Mittelerdes, von Tolkien geschaffen und von der walisischen Phonologie inspiriert.

Sindarin ist eine der Elbensprachen, die J.R.R. Tolkien für sein Mittelerde-Legendarium schuf. Aus seinen früheren Sprachen 'Gnomish' und 'Noldorin' (begonnen um 1917) hervorgegangen, erhielt Sindarin seine endgültige Form um 1944. Vor allem vom Walisischen inspiriert, weist es Konsonantenmutationen, ein komplexes Pluralsystem und einen fließenden, melodischen Klang auf. Es ist die Alltagssprache der Grauelben und wird im Herrn der Ringe ausführlich gesprochen.
